For the last project of the year, the teachers of the Help Desk class assigned an exploratory activity where the students were free to choose a topic explored throughout the year and make something out of it. It could be a video, a song, a game, or anything that would show and represent the amount of time given in class for the project. For my project, I chose to recreate one or more famous buildings (depending on the amount of time I had available) in a achitectural design app program so I could later make a video about my experience recreating this/these building(s) digitally. Below is the document that contains the prompth for the project and my planning for it: For now, I have my 3D model of the Pantheon, but like almost every project or work, there are some difficulties and problems along the way. Problems found during the creation of the 3D models: My first though of a program to use while making the project was Sweet Home 3D, but after some analysing, I realised that what I wanted was not the actual goal of the program and that there were other softwares that could better help me accomplish my goal. Then, I was introduced to the web verson of the SketchUp program. After realising that I did not have much time to complete my initial artifact before the due date, I figured that I had to change programs to finish it in time. I had some experience with the tinkercad program before, so I decided to give that one a try. To learn more about each program mentioned by now, click on the links: Tinkercad process of designing the Pantheon: Because of my previous experience with Tinkercad, the process of recreating the Pantheon was much easier. Below is various angles of the final product of my design compared to actual pictures of the pantheon Even though it doesn't contain all the details I would've liked to add, my plan is to add these details as times goes by. My goal was completed for the initial artifact, and I am very happy with the result! Tools used: The tools on Tinkercad are really simple to utilize, that being one of the reasons I decided to work with it. On the process of creating my 3D design, I only used four shapes (the square, the cylinder, the sphere and the 3D triangle) (Image 1 below). To put all these shapes together, I used the three tools below on Image 2. The one on the far left is for grouping shapes and it allows you to edit and move two or more structures at the same time. The icon in the middle is for separating the shapes you previously grouped. That is very helpful in case you commit a mistake and has to edit some shapes separately. Last is the aligning tool on the far right of Image 2. It's goal is to (as the name says) align the shapes so the user can have an easier time doing things like centering their chosen shapes. Plans for subsequent artifact: For my subsequent artifact, I was thinking of recreating another building and preparing for the video creation, the last part of my project. Even though I have a lot of time to complete the Final artifact, I think it is beneficial to me to start preparing for it now. For the video, I would like to put in informations about technology and architecture, as well as my process creating the 3D models and informations about each of them in real life. My plan is to use free stock videos and screen recordings of my screen and combine that with a background soundtrack and voiceovers.

The "Everyone can Create" is a book collection designed and offered by apple to explore many areas of different types of art. It allows teachers to teach their students in a much easier and interactive way since it is very creative and didactic. The setup of the books are really easy to follow, making easy for people to also self teach. Bellow is every "Everyone can Create" book offered by apple: My experience with these books have been really good so far because of its amazing design and easy to follow tutorials. They provide many tips and tricks to make your songs, drawings, photos and videos look more professional and well done. Bellow is the link to download every one of these books: Click HERE or HERE to go to the apple's page that explains more in depth about this topic. Also, to learn more about the connection between art and technology, click HERE and go to my page where I keep my research about it. What I got from this: Inspired by the "Everyone can Create Photo" book, I put together some pictures of things I found around the shool that have a circle shape. Using PicCollage, I cut these pictures in half and set them up to match the shape of the other one. For this third quarter, a final project was assigned and it has a goal to explore the different topics learned during this period of time. This type of project is very appealing to me because I get to use what I already learned about the topic and what I will learn through research. The connection between architecture and technology was very appealing to me, making it my option for a final project. Below is my presentation: During this past week, we have been working on architecture related programs like TinkerCAD and Sweet Home 3D. It was great to understand how technology and architecture relate so much. Without technology, architecture would be so behind compared to what it is now. It was so fun to experiment with both of these softwares and I hope to be able to explore them more in the future.
During this week, we focused a little bit more on the program "EarSketch". If geting more information about it interests you, there is a page under "Projects" that goes more in depth into it.
IT'S A WRAP, thanks to our preparations! Apparently, the students and teachers that attended liked it very much. I am glad more people are interested in technology and our class! I hope it can continue to be a success next year.
This week in the help desk class, we were mostly focused on the preparations for a project named Hour of Code that will happen after the Thanks Giving Break. It consists in a week where different classes can come to our room and we can explain some of the things we have done since the start of the school year. After distributing a program and app for each person to focus on, we are set to work! Since we all have different ways of explaining and even learning, our teacher Mr. Wong let us use our creative side and figure out the best way to explain them to other students (things like slides, video, tutorials or scripts).
